SPORTS MANAGEMENT In the world of sports you meet many different types of industries and organisations. To begin with there are professional sports clubs of many different kinds. In these clubs business management and development must be professional, qualifications which can be acquired through the Leisure Management Programme. It is obvious that professional sports clubs, with a professional management and a professional staff, have most success financially – and in the long run – also when it comes to success in their sport. Also there are a large number of sports clubs which are run on a voluntary basis without any significant pay to members or staff. Some of these clubs may expand and feel a demand for a manager and other salaried staff to run the club. This would be an obvious opportunity for a Leisure Management graduate. Within the world of sports there are ample job opportunities in different interest groups and professional and industrial organisations. |

ARTS AND CULTURE MANAGEMENT In the so-called developed countries we find an enormous growth within the field of arts and culture, particularly as regards theatres, opera houses, art museums, etc. An increasing demand for professional management is constantly placed on these institutions. With public funds on the decline and a heavier demand for a balanced budget through box office sales and other private funding, the qualifications acquired through the Leisure Management Programme become more and more relevant. Other type of activities and creative innovations are flourishing, for example the large festivals. These demand a high level of competence within marketing, financial management, project and event management, personnel management, psychology, creativity, etc., all of which are qualities acquired through the Leisure Management Programme. |
